72| Teresa Palmer- 6 Kids, No Rulebook. Co-sleeping, Acting Career & Finding Her Own Way Through Motherhood.
What happens when you bring six kids, a thriving acting career, a love of travel and a refreshingly flexible approach to motherhood together? You get a conversation with the beautiful Teresa Palmer that we absolutely loved having! Australian actress, mum of six, co-host of the incredible The Mother Daze podcast and founder of wellness brand Lovewell, Teresa joins us for an honest chat about what motherhood really looks like when life doesn't fit neatly into a box.
We dive into her refreshingly flexible approach to parenting, co-sleeping, finding what works for your family rather than following the rules, and the beautiful chaos of travelling the world with her entire family. We also get a peek behind the scenes of her acting career, from Warm Bodies, The Fall Guy and The Last Anniversary, and 'that' amazing birth scene in A Discovery of Witches, we chat about balancing a demanding career with the ever-changing needs of a big family.
While the family has made a decision to relocate to Byron Bay permanently, she still has filming commitments in Vancouver to complete God Of War, this will be the first time she is traveling with just Lotus (1yr) and letting the other kids stay in Australia, a decision she still has mixed emotions about. Teresa is motherhood personified, Hollywood doesn't stop this mum from making the school lunches, doing the school drops (to 4 different schools!) and not missing out on any co-circular activity.
Teresa also opens up about her own fertility journey. Although she has conceived all of her children without assistance, however, her pregnancies are deemed "high risk", due to a rare condition which causes her to build antibodies against the baby, these antibodies get higher in ever pregnancy and can cause harm to her babies. She has required MFM follow up through all her pregnancy's. Teresa also shared details on her most recent loss, finding out that baby had down syndrome and the difficult conversation which was taken out of her hands, when that pregnancy unfortunately ended spontaneously. Teresa shares her IVF journey, a decision which was made, to give her the ability to test the embryo's antibodies and decrease the risk of having another high risk pregnancy.
Of course, Clare and Chloe couldn't let Teresa go without talking about The Mother Daze Podcast, Teresa co-host with Sarah Wright-Olsen (Episode 66) and they celebrates the messy, magical and sometimes downright hilarious realities of motherhood. Chloe and Clare both love there pregnancy and birth book "Your Zen Mumma" and its always on our gift list at baby showers.
And because having 6 kids, a thriving carer, and a podcast isn't enough! Teresa also co-founded Lovewell, her wellness and supplement brand. If you haven't tried the sleepy hot chocolate yet, consider this your sign. We're obsessed! Their family range, was designed for mums with fussy eaters, who want to make sure their kids are getting all they need for growing brains and bodies.
This is a conversation about letting go of expectations, embracing flexibility, trusting your own instincts and remembering that there's no one-size-fits-all approach to raising a family. Because sometimes the best parenting advice is simply finding what works for you. Get comfy, grab your sleepy hot chocolate and join us for a little Love Patty chat with Teresa Palmer.
Love Patty xoxo
